Report: Packers are being dealt with CB Zayer Alexander

Green Bay Packers Cornerback Jair Alexander (23) reacted at the AT & T Stadium in Arlington, Texas after intercepting a pass during the first quarter of the Wild Card Playoff game against Dallas Cowboys Sunday, January 14, 2024.

It is becoming clear that the cornerback Jair Alexander will not be on Green Bay Packers in the 2025 season.

But whether Alexander has been traded or released, it is still in question.

Milwauki Journal Sentinel said on Tuesday that Alexander is not close to being dealt with, although Green Bay did a business of about seven years of veteran at the beginning of the league year.

However, there were two problems with business. First, the packers were asking too much in return. Second, Alexander was not ready to cut salary.

Alexander has two years left on the four -year expansion signed in 2022. His base pay for 2025 is $ 16.15 million, and in 2026 it is $ 18.15 million.

If the green bay cuts or trades Alexander with a June 1 designation, it will cost more than $ 7.5 million in dead money, but in cap savings with about $ 17.1 million, according to the cap. A former June 1 cut or business would mean more than $ 17 million in dead money and about $ 7.6 million in savings.

Alexander was a second-team all-pro and made a Pro Bowl in both 2020 and 2022, but injuries have forced him to remember most of the last four sessions. He appeared in 2021 in only four games and in both 2023 and seven in ’24.

Alexander has 12 career interception with five out of five in 2022. He also has three pics in seven playoffs.
