ATP Roundup: Holgar Run uptates Carlos Alkaraz in Barcelona

The sixth seed Holgar Run on Sunday disturbed top seeded top seed Carlos Alakraj 7-6 (6), 6–2 to win the title at Barcelona Open Bench Subdale in Spain on Sunday.
This is the first ATP tour title for Rune since 2023, which now has five career win – three of them on clay.
Run was below a break in the first set, but came back to win in the tiebreaker and then hovering through another set against Alakraj, which required two medical timeouts to see his upper right leg during an hour, 41 minute match.
With the win, Denmark’s Run will return to the top 10 when the update ATP ranking will be released on Monday. Alkaraz may have retained his number 2 position with a win, but after the defeat, the number 3-ranked single player in the world will fall.
Alakraj won the Barcelona title in his country in 2022 and 2023.
BMW Open
Alexander Zverev gave himself a memorable birthday gift, defeating Ben Shelton 6–2, 6-4 to win the championship in Munich.
On his 28th birthday, German won its third title in the tournament in front of his home fans in just 71 minutes. This was his winning 24th ATP tour.
Since reaching the Australian Open final in January, the Zeverev tour was just 6–6 in the tour matches, but looked fresh in Munich, taking the Clay-court tournament to three sets on the road just once.
In the final, Zeverev won 89 per cent marks on her first serve and had only seven unexpected errors compared to 21 for Shelton. He did not face a break point and broke Shelton’s service thrice as he went 2–0 in his career against the 22-year-old American.
Zerev, who will run to number 2 in the ATP rankings, first won in Munich in 2017 and 2018.
