According to ESPNCRICNFO, India’s veteran Seemar Mohammed Shami is unlikely to board the aircraft for England for the upcoming five-day tests. Shami, who is fit to bowl for Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Indian Premier League (IPL), has not created the required charge for high demands of Test cricket, according to ESPNCRICNFO. His final presence for India in the red-ball setup returned to the World Test Championship final against Australia in 2023.
According to ESPNCRICINFO, a medical staff of a member of the Control Board for Cricket in India (BCCI) traveled to Lucknow this week to assess Shami’s fitness level before the stability of Hyderabad against Royal Challengers Bangalore on Friday.
It has not been confirmed that the selectors have made up their mind about leaving Shami for the series. However, it is highly likely that they will play safe and leave Shami until a favorable report comes from the medical staff.
The 34-year-old stayed away from on-field action for more than a year due to an ankle injury. In February 2024, Shami successfully recovered from the ankle surgery, but began to have pain in his right knee, for which he is demanding treatment.
Last year returned to the domestic circuit and was depicted in the Ranji Trophy for Bengal.
