Six -time champion Novak Djokovic exits the Italian Open

Novak Djokovic’s dialect for its 100th ATP tour singles title will have to wait a little after being taken out of the next month’s Italian Open on Tuesday.

Djokovic, a six-time winner of the Clay-Cort tournament in Rome, is getting a shocking loss to Italy’s Matio Arnaldie on Sunday in his opening match at Madrid Open.

With the withdrawal from the Italian Open starting on May 7, Djokovic is unlikely to play another competitive match before the onset of the French Open on 25 May.

Djokovic, 37, won three men’s men’s record 24 Grand Slam singles title in Rolland Garos. He was closed in four big companies in 2024, but won gold medals on Clay at Paris Olympics.

So far in 2025, Djokovic has faced opening-match deficit in Monte-Karlo, Indian Wales and Doha. He reached the finals at Miami, losing the Czech teenager Jakub Mannasic. He lost to Alexander Zverev of Germany in the semi -finals at this year’s Australian Open.

“(It) is like a new reality for me, I want to say, trying to win a match, not really thinking about going away in the tournament,” Djokovic said after his loss in Madrid.

“This is a completely different feeling that I had in 20-plas years,” he continued. “This is mentally a challenge to me that I actually face such sensations in court, going out regularly in tournaments now.”
