West Indies Batter Daren Ganga has raised a big question on the choice of continuing with MS Dhoni as the captain of Chennai Super Kings. In particular, the legendary captain Dhoni led CSK to record five IPL titles. He stepped down from the role in the 2022 season and the resins were handed over to Ravindra Jadeja. The team’s poor performance under the new captain forced Jades to pass the baton back in the middle of the season. Dhoni then proceeded to lead CSK in IPL 2023, before he played a role once again in the next season, this time handed over to Ruturaj Gikawad to duties.
As in luck, a elbow injury rushed Gaikwad out of the middle way during IPL 2025 and Dhoni was once again handed over to CSK Captain.
“Is it not a high risk for a team. If you are planning for the next season, you are having your expectations on a player who is not playing competitive cricket between IPL season. Isn’t that it is not that on the basis of that player’s fitness and availability, he is not putting himself in a loss based on a loss?” Daran Ganga is not progressing, “Dairan Ganga is not progressing on EspNcrinfo during a discussion on EspNcricinfo.
Asked if Dhoni is still worthy of holding his place as a player in the CSK team, the Ganges response was positive. However, he questioned the fact that the team sticks with them for captaincy.
“Yes. I certainly think with a big option of the fact that he has put himself ahead and we have seen him as a wicketkeeper and a batsman at the back end of the innings, he can command himself in that team. But my biggest question is that he should be considered a captain in that squad when you are before you start in favor.
“But I think Ruturaj is a man like Gikwad and in the past, Ravindra Jadeja is in a unstable position where it seems that MS still has captain’s ambitions, not a good situation.
