Rajasthan Royals suffered a shocking defeat against Delhi Capital in their last IPL 2025 match on Wednesday. This was the first IPL match since 2022, where the winner was decided in the super over. Following the loss, RR faced serious criticism from cricket pundits and fans for their poor strategy, eventually causing their loss. During the match against DC, RR also suffered a major setback as his captain Sanju Samson was forced to get hurt after a hit on his chest on the delivery of Verapraj Nigam.
RR will now take Lucknow super veterans for their next match on Saturday, but Samson’s participation is still uncertain. During the pre-match press conference on Friday, RR head coach Rahul Dravid said that the team is waiting for Samson’s scan results, after which a decision will be taken about his participation.
“Sanju experienced a little pain in the stomach area. So we have gone for a scan. He has done some scans today, so we are waiting for the results of those scans. And then once we get a little more clarity around the scan and (severity of injury), we will move forward and we will see what happens,” Head-cook Rahul Drew said at a press-minded press conference on Friday.
It is also highly likely that Samson can play against LSG, but only as an impact sub, which can bring back the Ryan parague as RR’s stand-in skipper. Parag led RR in the first three matches of the season as Samson was recovering from a finger injury.
In addition, Dravid also rubbed all the reports about any type of crack between the franchise and Samson. Dravid called all the reports “baseless” and said that the team remains united in search of the playoffs.
“I don’t know where these reports are coming from. Sanju and I are on the same page,” said Dravid.
“He is a very integral part of our team. He is involved in every decision and discussion. Sometimes, when you lose the game and things are not right, you can face criticism and we can take it on our performance, but we can’t do anything about this baseless goods. The team’s spirit is really good, how hard work.
