James Wood had five hits, including his 23rd domestic runs, Paul Desong added a three-run blast and the citizens of Washington beat Detroit Tigers 11–7 on Thursday night to take a rubber game of the series.
Alex Call made three hits and scored three runs for Washington, who won three out of three. Wood had four solo, scored three runs and went into two on the day he committed to participate in his first home run darby.
Jake Irwin (7-3) first survived a unstable and played six innings, scoring three runs on three hits.
National Manager Dave Martinez won his 500th game.
Spencer Torkelson had a three -run homer for Detroit and Gleber Torres did two hits.
Detrich ANS (1-1) of Detroit, who played five scorer innings against Athletics in his first beginning on 26 June, allowed eight runs (seven earned) on eight hits in four-blind innings.
Colt Keith led the game with a walk and Torres sang. Irwin hit Wescell Perez and Riley Green, but Torkelson reached the center to bring it to the center 3–0 on the 10th pitch of the At-Bate.
Washington responded back to half of his. CJ Abrams led with a walk, Wood Single and Nathaniel Lowe went with one to load the hideouts for the call, which rowed the left for two runs. Dijong corrected a 2–0 pitch in the right center for the three-run Homer and 5-3 Washington lead.
In the second, Wood hit an opposite-field line drive to make 6-3 above the left area wall.
Abrams led the fourth with one single, stole the other and scored on the single with wood, and the lead was 7-3.
Detroit errors allowed the first two citizens to reach the fifth. After the advancement of both the runners, Brady House graded a single of the draw-in Infield, scored Lov and called it to make it 9-3.
Detroit held a rally in the seventh. Parker Meadows sung with two consecutive-out solo by Keith, Torres and Perce and pulled the tigers within 9–5.
In the eighth, Meadows provided an RBI single and another run made it 9–7 on the Xavier Bays Groundout. But Wood left half of the bottom and Luis Garcia Junior and gave the call a run-scoring single for citizens to restore the Char-Run cushion.
