Former cricketer Basit Ali made an excavation in the Pakistan Super League and compared between the current Pakistan team and PSL teams after franchise struggles to chase in the ongoing edition of the nation’s premiere T20 tournament. In the 10th edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL), the franchise has barely found it to chase a successful chase. Of the eight fixtures, Karachi Kings and Defending Champions, Islamabad United are the only team to win their efforts to chase the given target.
Baist, who has closely monitored the events that occur in the PSL, lashed out at the teams for inability to compete. He compared Pakistan team and franchise by underlining the same “mentality” factor.
Basit said on his YouTube channel, “Pakistan and PSL teams have the same position. There is no mindset. They cannot chase. I feel sad to see. PSL standard is gone down. It is not cricket. It is not cricket. There was better cricket in the Champions Cup.”
Both were followed during the early days of the ongoing PSL. Islamabad started protecting its title by shutting down the 140 -run target of Lahore Kalanders at the lung opener Clash. In the third stability of Pakistan’s top level T20 tournament, Karachi topped Multan Kings 234/5 with an explosive century from James Vince.
The 54-year-old cited the Cash-Rich Indian Premier League (IPL) as an example to create his case for a shortage of cut-thornars in Pakistan. Basit feels that the absence of gripping matches has removed the element of fun from the league.
He said, “In the IPL, before chasing such a score. Here, our teams lose by 50 or 60 runs. Hasan Ali is bowling well and returning to the team. There is no fun due to lack of competition,” he said.
The PSL action will continue on Saturday with two low-lying sides, Peshawar Zalmi and Multan Sultans, who are going on a head-to-head to find some winning pace in their favor.
