Pakistan refused to travel to India for the Women’s World Cup, PCB chief gave a fast message

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) president Mohsin Naqvi announced on Saturday that their women’s team would not visit India for the ICC ODI World Cup later this year and will play their matches at a neutral venue after the hybrid model earlier this year. When Pakistan recently hosted the ICC Champions Trophy, the BCCI refused to send the Indian team across the border due to diplomatic tension between the two countries and their matches were held in Dubai. A hybrid model was agreed, which allowed both India and Pakistan to play their matches at neutral places if one of the two countries was to host the ICC event.

He said, “As the Bharat Champions Trophy did not play in Pakistan and it was allowed to play at a neutral site, whatever site is fixed, we will play. When there is an agreement, we have to follow it.”

The PCB chief said that India and the ICC will decide at the neutral site as the host of the tournament.

India will host the tournament from 29 September to 26 October, with Australia Defending Champions.

Naqvi also expressed satisfaction in the effective way in which Pakistan’s women’s team qualified for the World Cup.

Pakistan ended all their five matches in a qualifier held in Lahore. He qualified for the main round by defeating Ireland, Scotland, West Indies, Thailand and Bangladesh, for which India, England, New Zealand, Australia, South Africa and Sri Lanka are already hosting.

“The team showed how to take advantage of the house and play like a collective unit. I am happy that women’s cricket is doing well,” she said.

He said that the PCB would definitely announce a special reward for their outstanding performance for the women’s team.

Naqvi also said that he was happy that PCB successfully hosted another ICC event after the Champions Trophy.
