Virat Kohli shocked the cricket world as the Indian cricket team Star Batter declared its retirement from the tests. Kohli, who is considered one of the greatest batsmen of the modern era, decided just before the five -match testing series against England. Kohli fought extensively in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia in 2024 and his disappointing run criticized both fans as well as experts. Former South African batsman Derryl Kulinen, however, claimed that Kohli’s retirement was not unpredictable, which was not unexpected by his recent looks and conflicts.
“His retirement did not really come as a surprise for me. We have seen in recent times that he is struggling a little in Test cricket. What else happens, I believe, as a batsman, or sportsman or cricketer, this is that when you are constantly working on your game and working again, you do not realize that you want to do it now.
Kohli had a brilliant red-ball career, but his performance towards the latter half was not quite impressive with his weakness against delivery outside the off stump, which was a major talk.
“I think he probably reached that platform. He has a big life outside cricket now, and he is playing white ball cricket and perhaps felt, okay, you know, family and all these things are time to move forward. So it’s also that you do not want to leave it when you are too late.”
“And the series in England must have been working hard for him. And he was with his struggles in the past. And with especially speed or movement or watching, he would have really been kept for a good chain for a good series and to play well. So I think I think that weighs all the ideas, I think he has fixed the time now,” he said.
