IPL Now, England Test Series Next – KKR captain Ajinkya Rahane wants “wearing Indian color”

Rahane last played a Test match for India in July 2023 and was never considered since.

Only 13 players have scored more than 5000 runs in Test cricket for India. Ajinkya Rahane is one of them. After making his red-ball debut in 2013, Rahane quickly earned himself a name that was away from home. His record in Australia, South Africa, England and South Africa was better than home.

Ajinkya Rahane ready for India vs England test

Rahane was 35 years old by then. And before India’s England Test tour starts from June 20, it will turn 37 years old. Age is not on his side. But Rahane is not ready to leave. not yet. He is currently leading the Kolkata Knight Riders in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. But his mind is also making India’s squad for England.

“I would like to come back again in the Indian set-up. Desire, hunger, fire is still there. Fitness-wise, I just want to take a game at a time, thinking about this IPL right now, and then, see what happens in the future,” Rahen said during the press room interaction of Star Sports.

Form, Josh and Fitness: All there

The former Indian captain scored 263 runs at 52.60 in the second phase of the Ranji Trophy 2024-25 season. And last year was also played for Leicestershire at the County Championship. He is in form, even in IPL. And Syed was also one of the best batsmen in the Mushtaq Trophy.

“I am a person who will never give up. I always try and give my best on the field to give more than 100 percent. It is always about it, focusing on controlgic things. I am also playing domestic cricket, and I am really enjoying my cricket at this time,” He said.

Rahane is working on his fitness, and the enthusiasm of representing his country is very high. He needs all the opportunity from the selectors. His test record in England is not so great. But he got more experiences than the choice of Sarfaraz Khan, Rajat Patidar, Karun Nair, Sai Sudhar, and Shreyas Iyer.

“I want to represent my country. I want to wear those Indian colors again. During the off-season, I train for two Three sessions a day. I think it is really important to keep yourself fit for this moment, for me, really fit; Recovery is really important, ” Rahane said.
