Gautam Gambhir, BCCI selectors exploded before the tour of England to not prepare for the infection

The transition phase has actually begun in Indian test cricket. After the retirement of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, the Indian cricket team will bear a new look when going down to take action in the test series against England. Sai Sudarshan has received a young woman India Test call-up, while all will be eyeing Karun Nair and Abhimanyu Ishvaran, if they get a chance in Xi. Even more importantly, Shubman Gill will be the New India Test captain. The Squad was announced on Saturday by BCCI chief selector Ajit Aggarkar.

Next to the selection of the squad, former BCCI chief selector Kiran More was important for the Indian cricket team head coach Gautam Gambhir and the current BCCI selectors, who were not better prepared for the transition phase. In particular, both Kohli and Rohit retired from the tests a few weeks before the selection of the squad for the tour of England.

“First, I am surprised. The entire selection committee and coach should have thought that this (transition) was about to come,” Kiran told Blues Follows on Gehotstar.

“Now, suddenly, everyone is awake and now they are asking who the next captain should be. He should have been prepared. I think we have not prepared for 1.5 years, this is a big wake up call for us.”

Meanwhile, former Indian cricketer Atul Vasan praised the selectors of the Control Board (BCCI) for Cricket in India for his decision to appoint Shubman Gill as the new Test captain of the Indian men’s cricket team.

He emphasized the importance of a captain, who plays in all three formats and is enough time to mature in the role. This approach ensures stability and allows the captain to grow.

The announcement was made from the chairman of Senior Selection Committee Ajit Aggarkar, who revealed the India’s squad for the upcoming five -match Test series against England during a press conference held in Mumbai on Saturday.

Shubman Gill has been appointed as India’s new Test captain, and wicketkeeper-bater Rishabh Pant will work in the longest format as his deputy.

“I think this is a very good decision by the selectors. I have always said that there should be a captain who is guaranteed that he should have a certainty for the Indian team in all three formats. And secondly, he must have some time to grow,” Atul told Annie.
