Pittsburgh Pirates Catcher Henry Davis is having fun again after an unstable start for his leading league career.
Davis again concluded his four-game series against the visit to Washington National on Thursday afternoon to stay in lineups again.
Pittsburgh has won two of the first three matches of the set, including a 6–1 win on Wednesday. Citizens were held for three hits while losing the fourth time in five matches.
Davis played an important role in the latest win for Pittsburgh, scoring five runs in the seventh innings. The 25 -year -old has been looking for a new beginning after struggling against Major League Pitching in each of the last two sessions.
Davis has impressed Pirates Manager Derek Shelton in five matches since he returned from Triple-e-Indianapolis on Saturday. His fifth innings Solo Homer broke a scorer tie on Wednesday, and tried to steal James Wood’s second base in the first innings.
“Big Homer to start us,” said Shelton. “Every game that he has been caught so far has done an excellent work with his pitch-jolting. … Overall, a excellent game by Henry.”
Davis has faced high expectations since already selected in the 2021 draft. He said that he is bringing a different mentality to the park this season.
“I am confident that I am a very good player, there is no need to force it or do so,” Davis said. “… Show that I can be a part of the team, can help us win and let it happen and have fun. I never really enjoyed and played bad.”
At the conclusion of the Pirates series, the left-hand will send Andrew Honey (0–1, 3.00 ERA) to the right hand on the right hand Trevor Williams (1-1, 7.36) on the right.
Henny is demanding her first win in this season, allowing a total of six runs, while out of 18 to cover 18 innings in her first three.
The 33-year-old veteran scored four runs in six innings and threw six to six to lose Cincinnati Reds 5–2.
Amed Rosario is 2-for-13 (.154) and Josh Bell is against Honey 2-for-12 (.167), which is 0-2 with 5.14 ERA in five career games (four beginnings) vs. Washington.
Williams has allowed 23 hits in 14 2/3 innings through its first three beginnings this season. On Saturday, he gave six runs on eight hits in 4 2/3 innings in a 7-6 defeat to Miami Marlins.
“It’s disappointing, trust me, seeing how much hits I give up,” Williams said. “You look at the box and you are like, ‘Man, I think I did not give eight hits today.” But this is one of those things.
Williams, 32, spent the first five sessions of his career with Pittsburgh. It is 2–1 with 4.82 ERA in four career, which begins against the pirates.
Washington’s Bulpen remains a concern after the Cruise’s first career Grand Slam in the loss of Eduardo Salazar on Wednesday’s loss. The 26 -year -old right -handed batsman has scored a total of six runs in his last four performances in 2 1/3 innings.
“He is just found to be more aggressive,” said National Manager Davi Martinez. “He has really found good items. We have seen it in spring training. I saw it earlier. He got to be a little more aggressive and is using his fastball to move forward. I think he is throwing too many braking pitches.”
