The possibility of Toronto FC will be without captain Jonathan Osorio when he will return to MLS regular-season action on Saturday to host the New England Revolution.

The midfielder faced CF Montreal on Wednesday in a penalty shootout in the initial round of the Canadian Championship.

Toronto coach Robin Fraser said, “I have seen people really recover quickly, and I have seen that people really take a long time.” “Not until we do any kind of exam, we will be able to tell how serious it is, but it is going to hurt for some time.”

The news is more optimistic on Italian forward Federico Bernardchi, who is nursing an ankle injury.

“This is a little volatility in his ankle,” Fraser said. “We just want to make sure that it is safe for him, rather than that we need to play it.

Toronto (1-5-4, 7 points) is still looking for its first domestic win (0-2-2) of the season, but has four of the last five matches (1-1-3).

Saturday will be the first of two meetings between Reds and Revs. Toronto will visit New England on 13 September.

Toronto won both meetings last season, winning 1-0 on 3 March and 20 April.

Revolution (4-4-1, 13 points) will see the streak of her victory in four matches when he visits Toronto. New England is 2–2–1 in matches this season.

The recent success of Revs, including three directly clean sheets, has been attributed to the new-look back end, which includes Breen Sebelos with Maimadou Fofna and Tanner Besan.

“I think our mindset, top, is our strength, as well as unity among the teammates,” Ceballos said. “We are all working day by day and maintain our responsibilities.”

New England have scored just seven goals in nine matches this season – the lowest goals with Vancouver Whitcaps.
