Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) continue to struggle to find forms at home. The franchise lost its third serial Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 match at M Chinnaswamy, in which Punjab Kings won a comfortable win in the rain-hit match on Friday. As the match concludes, Punjab Kings climbed second on the points table, while Bengaluru came to 4th position, regretting the underperforms of their batsmen during the day. Even former India cricketer Virender Sehwag prolonged RCB, calling his batsmen for a shortage of ‘common sense’ on how to bat.
“RCB batted poorly. All of them played careless shots to get out. Not a single batsman was out for a good ball. At least one batsman should have used general knowledge. If he had wickets in his hand, he could have reached 110 or 120 in 14 overs, he would have got a chance to fight,” Sahwa said in a chat on the cricketer.
Arshdeep Singh, Yuzvendra Chahal, Maco Jensen and Harpreet Brar took two wickets in each in the match. While Sehwag did not want to take credit from PBKS bowlers, he felt that RCB batsmen threw their wickets.
“There is a difference between getting wickets and earning wickets,” he said.
Batting has been an issue for RCB, especially at home, the team has failed to click as a unit. Sehwag held the responsibility of finding a solution on the shoulders of captain Rajat Patidar. While Patidar himself has been one of the top artists for the team, other batsmen around them have not shown the same stability.
“Patidar has to think and come up with a solution. They are not winning at home. Their bowlers are doing well, but why their batsmen are regularly staggering? It’s not right if your batsmen constantly fail at home. Who is going to improve it?” Sehwag asked.
