The US Mains National Team set two friends in early September to start their warmup for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which they are co-maintained along with Canada and Mexico.

The USMNT will face South Korea on 6 September at New York Red Bulls Home Stadium, in Harrison, NJ, on 9 September, Japan will play Japan at the American Columbus crew house.

Japan was the first team to officially qualify for the 2026 World Cup, except for three hosts, when it finished the top-two in the Asian Football Confederation qualifying Group in March. Japan is ranked 14th in the FIFA World Ranking, the highest ranked Asian country, and 12-match is an unbeaten line.

South Korea is ranked 23rd in the world, on track to achieve its World Cup location next month, as it currently leads its AFC qualifying group.

The USMNT stopped in the world rankings in 16, 2010, 2014 and 2022 World Cups in 16 rounds and failed to qualify in 2018. This is his first World Cup cycle under coach Maurisio Pocheto.

The national team has not played South Korea since 2014 and recently played Japan to the tune of a World Cup in 2022 that Japan won 2–0.
