The Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell of Punjab Kings is “probably” out of the remaining matches of the Indian Premier League after fracturing his finger. Maxwell was hurt before PBKS’s previous game rained against Kolkata Knight Riders, in which he was rejected to continue a weak season for 7. He was replaced by Suryash Shed in a clash against Chennai Super Kings last night, which was won by PBK by four wickets. “Unfortunately, Maxi broke her finger. He broke it just before the last game in training. He did not think it was very bad, but it was very bad. He had a scan and yes, the results were not very good. So unfortunately for maxi, I think it is out of the tournament,” said “Maxwell’s compatibility and PBKS team said.
Punjab head coach Ricky Ponting said that this side is currently trying to detect a suitable replacement which may not be easy to find.
“We would sign some replacement in some stages,” Ponting said at the post -match press conference when asked about the shock of injury.
“We have got our 12th game, so we have some games to go yet. We have got with the squad, we are trying to find the players in our squad anyway. So we have got Azmatullah (Omrajai), Aaron Hardy, who have not played yet, Zaveier Bartellets who have not played today.
He said, “These situations are based. But when we reach Dharampala, he will come back where the ball can swing and bounce a little more,” he explained.
Ponting said that there is a good look on Indian talent in this side that this international option is limited due to other ongoing leagues.
“… There are not much high quality replacement to be honest. So we just have patience,” he said.
“We are taking a look with Indian talents and we are seeing which roles we may be able to fill with some young Indian players. We will actually take some people with us to Dharampala, a couple trained with us tomorrow and they will come to Dharamsa with us.
“… we will look at them closely and they can proceed with the Punjab contract (smiling). It should be this week, should be before the 12th game so that it should remain.”
