The Battleground Mobile India Series (BGIS) now concluded in Kolkata with the Grand Final of 2025, focusing on the future of BGMI Esports in India. In a special interview held during BGIS Grand Final, Karan Pathak, Associate Director of Asports in Crafton IndiaShared with insight Vivek Singh, Deputy Editor in Insidsport, On the upcoming plans for prize pool growth, BGMI Rising Stars program, and potential new tournament structures for the region.
Why. The BGIS 2026 initial award was Pool 2 crores and the community participation added 1.2 crore, so do you see the model as a standard future ESPORTS events for prize pool growth?
It will change. Of course, we want to make it big and better. We are already interacting with our product team for 2026 about how to change and also benefit fans. With BGIS 2025 crate, IS 1.2 crore support that the Pool received from the players, allows us to make more and more creative efforts and achieve. However, there are also boundaries with development. Therefore, based on development plans from product teams and developers, we will decide plans for 2026.

Q. Can you tell us more about BGMI Rising Stars problem? What important qualities do you see talent when choosing them?
First, the most important goal for him was to register on the Crafts India Asports website. The website has a registration section for Rising stars, and once they were registered there, more than 3000 people participated. It took us about three weeks to go through applications where the details were collected in such a way that we could not easily map their total customers.
We did not ask him about the size of his channel, so we had to actually go to every channel and see when he last posd. The best thing was that we found a player who was very active in 2021, but then disappeared from the scene, and he applied. So, I really called her and said, “Hey, you applied, but nothing is active. Do you want to make a step?” For him, my answer was, “Why don’t you start again? Perhaps you can join the second version.” Of course, a minimum criteria we maintained, as the initial 3000 applicants were limited to 10, they had minimum 5000 customers on any channel. And then, he needed to be an active asport player.
Please do not consider these individuals primarily as material creators; They are the first player, and then they make materials as a distribution. They want to develop their channels, and it is often said that once you are an ESPORS player, you should stream so that people can also enjoy watching you and the game.
Q. Is there any new format like franchise or anything, tournament structure or initiative that Crafton is considering for the future of the Government of India?
Since the tournament format is always or the structure of the tournament is always new, we try to introduce something new even with this BGIS 2025. BGMI Pro Series Aka BMPS 2025 will also have a new tournament format/structure. In relation to the franchise league in BGMI Esports. You will have to wait for the official announcement in the future.
