Abhishek Nair was dismissed by accusing Team India’s ‘powerful member’? Report explosive claims

India’s border against Australia was felt on Wednesday following the loss of the Gavaskar Trophy as sources claimed that Rohit Sharma -led team assistant coach Abhishek Nair was dismissed despite being only eight months in his tenure with the national side. Apart from this, trainer Soham Desai and Fielding Coach T Dileep will not continue in their roles. While most of the reports claimed that Nair was being removed after India’s poor show on a tour of Australia, the news agency PTI came with an interesting details.

A PTI report claimed that after removing Nair, Cardshu Kotak was added to the assistant employees of the Indian team as an additional batting coach.

“… after the tour of Australia, a review meeting held by the BCCI. The top officials of the board, including Secretary Devjit Saikia and Vice President Rajiv Shukla, were present with important members associated with the Indian team and national selectors,” the BCCI source was said by the news agency.

“On the occasion of the meeting, a powerful member of assistant employees expressed his apprehension about Nair’s presence and said how he is proving to be a counter-producer in the dressing room.

“While BCCI did not work immediately, he brought to Kotak, a former Saurashtra run-acumulator. This was a way of Nair’s side-lineing during the Champions Trophy,” said the source.

It is understood that Nair head coach was not the first choice for Gautam Gambhir when appointments were finalized.

He was appointed to act as a bridge between Gambhir and captain Rohit Sharma, with which he shared a close friendship for his time together as Mumbai peers.

Nair and Dileep have been the “most trusted lieutenant” of the Indian captain and it is not known whether Rohit was placed in the loop by BCCI Mandarin about these decisions.

According to a BCCI source, as the news agency was quoted by ANI, Abhishek Nair and another assistant coach, Ryan Ten Dochet, was subject to earlier investigation in early 2025, as the BCCI was not happy with the clear ‘Kolkata Knight Riders Touch’ in the team management.

Former Indian all-rounder Abhishek Nair and former Netherland cricketer Ryan Ten Doschet joined Team India’s support staff as an assistant coach during the Sri Lankan White-Ball Tour eight months ago. Nair and Dochet also had assistant coaches in KKR and worked with Gambhir.

Under Gambhir’s mentorship, the Kolkata -based franchise won the 2024 edition of the Indian Premier League by defeating Sunrisers Hyderabad by eight wickets in the final.
