“Jasprit Bumrah, a vaccine that can cure any disease,” Varun Aaron praised the MI bowler before the PBK match

So Bumrah gives 25 runs per match in his 4-over spell and it’s 38 runs for others. That’s 13 runs saved per match. And we aren’t even considering wickets.

Jasprit Bumrah, a god among mortals

Bumrah also bowls in the powerplay, middle, and death. Only a handful of bowlers do that. And despite all of this, he isn’t giving even 25 runs on average per match. That’s just absurd. His brilliance is why MI is in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 Qualifier 2.

MI won just 1 of their first 4 matches. And guess what, Bumrah played neither of them. After he joined the team, MI was 8 of 11. That’s the Bumrah effect. And Hardik Pandya and co. won the Eliminator against Gujarat Titans (GT) because of him as well. Defending 229, MI was far behind. Bumrah then got Washington Sundar’s wicket in the 14th over and the game opened up.

Without him waving his magic wand, there was no way MI was winning. And former Indian fast bowler Varun Aaron has called Bumrah ‘a cure’ for all of your problems. He can do two of the most difficult things in T20 cricket: be economical and get wickets.

“He’s like an antidote, a vaccine that can cure any illness which a bowling side can have. If you want wickets, he comes and gets you wickets. If you want to stop runs, he stops runs for you. Man, what a bowler,” Aaron said on ESPN ESPNCricinfo ‘Timeout’.
