“Not surprised at all …”: Sourav Ganguly’s elder Rohit Sharma took Rohit Sharma’s Test retirement




Rohit Sharma announced his retirement from Test cricket, which surprised all fans and cricket experts. The announcement came as a major surprise as the Indian selector wanted to choose the team for the upcoming five -match Test series against England. Rohit, who played 67 Tests for India, took his social media to break the news, after reports that he would not be a captain in trials against England. Recently, former India captain Sourav Ganguly supported Rohit’s decision, saying it was the right time for him.

Talking to India today, Ganguly also congratulated Rohit for his amazing career, which saw India a pioneer for two ICC title.

Ganguly today told India Today, “Retirement is everyone’s personal decision. I also understand that it was the right time for him to hang his shoes. He has played a lot of cricket for India and I would like to wish him best for his upcoming journey.”

He said, “He was a good leader, so he made the captain of India. I am not surprised at all that he took India to the T20 World Cup and Champions Trophy title. It was a successful career and should be very proud of it,” he said.

In recent times, there was a significant decline as Rohit and the skipper also faced harsh criticism for the same. Recently, he also opened about criticism and called some of them “unnecessary”.

“Criticism is a part of a player’s life. Criticism is necessary and important. But what I am against is unnecessary criticism. I don’t like it,” Rohit said while speaking in an interview with journalist Vimal Kumar.

Rohit said, “A lot of things were said about me. But I do not pay attention to any of it, and it does not impress me.”

Rohit said that he was unnecessarily criticized for weakness against left -arm pacers. However, he chose to focus on his performance instead of retreating critics.

“A lot of things have been said about me – like I can’t play left -Arm fast bouler, and many other things – but now, I don’t pay any more attention to it. Now, if you go and defend it, a lot of things can be wrong. And you will be lost on time, and time will be lost, and time is precious. My job is to attack,” Rohit told.
