The Bangladesh batsman Soumya government has been dropped from the June T20 series against Pakistan due to a back injury. Mehidi Hasan Miraj, who is playing for Lahore Kalandars in the PSL 2025 playoffs, is named as his replacement, according to ESPNCRICINFO on Thursday. Pakistan will host Bangladesh for the three -match T20 series starting on May 28, Bangladesh team is scheduled to reach Lahore on May 25, three days before the opener. Tourist training sessions are planned for May 26 and 27 to ensure optimal preparation for the series.
Soumya missed three T20s against UAE in Sharjah, a series Bangladesh lost 2–1, and Team Physio, Bejedul Islam Khan said they would need a few weeks to recover.
“After medical evaluation, it has been determined that the injury requires an extended rehabilitation period of about 10 to 12 days,” Bazedul said. “This effectively means that it will not be available for the next week’s three -match series in Pakistan,” said Bejedul Islam Khan.
Mehidi was dropped from the T20I team which was selected by the Bangladesh selectors to visit the UAE and Pakistan.
However, Mehidi has been a successful 2024–25 campaign. In addition to taking three five-wicket haols and scoring a century in the Test series against Zimbabwe, he was also nominated for his 355 runs and Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) 2025 for the tournament player for 13 wickets.
Mehidi is in the Kalandars squad with his countrymen Shakib Al Hasan and Rishad Hussain, and he will join the Bangladesh team in Lahore after his PSL commitments.
