ACC delays women’s emerging Asia Cup over chikungunya and heavy rains

The ACC said it would announce new dates for the tournament in the appointed time.
The emerging teams of women have been postponed, the Asia Cup, which was scheduled to begin in Sri Lanka on 6 June. The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) announced the decision after a formal request from Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC), which cited the ongoing bad weather and rising health concerns including a Chikungunia’s outbreak in the region.

India A was designed to defend its title after winning the first edition in Hong Kong in 2023. The tournament included eight teams including Bangladesh A, Pakistan A, Sri Lanka A, UAE, Nepal, Malaysia and Host Hong Kong. However, several matches, including the semi -finals, were affected by rain. The ACC confirmed that the new dates would be announced soon.

Meanwhile, the first few reports suggested that BCCI women’s emerging teams were withdrawn from the Asia Cup and Asia Cup due to tension with Pakistan. However, BCCI Secretary Devjit Saikia denied these claims.
