Former India cricketer Atul Vasan feels that Virat Kohli made a good call to retire from Test cricket. Kohli on Monday ended the days of speculation about his future as India’s fourth highest run-match-goldter. Speaking on the show’s ‘Bells and Butter’ show, Vasan sang a poem on Kohli’s unmatched fitness, saying that he could easily play for a few more days. Virat’s departure from Red-Ball cricket continued to migrate from the test format as Captain Rohit Sharma also retired from the format a few days ago.

“Everyone knows about Virat Kohli’s fitness. I think he is fitter than a 30 -year -old child. I think he has thought of his family, his two children are now. Test cricket bandwidth is not only about matches. What do you do before and what you do after that. I think he has not said anything.

Vasan suggested that Kohli and Rohit’s retirement would help in better infection of the Indian team, but insisted that their experience would be remembered in the dressing room.

“He has not done very well in the last two years. People do not realize their presence and mentorship in the team is much higher than those runs.

Vasan classified Kohli as one of the players who brought a paradigm in cricket by re-defying red-ball cricket standards with their aggressive attitude and sublime strokeplay.

“I think he made a good call. We will remember him. Virat Kohli’s presence means a lot, even though he does not score runs. Virat Kohli’s aggression has brought a lot of fans to test cricket.

India is set to name a new Test captain before the upcoming five -match Test series against England.
