Record-breaking KL Rahul Boss Lucknow in DC’s victory over LSG

KL Rahul scored an unbeaten 57 against Lucknow super veterans to lead Delhi Capital’s 160 -run chase.

KL Rahul was the cornerstone of the victory of Delhi Capital over Lucknow super veterans at Ekna Stadium on Tuesday. The victory helped DC integrate their second place in the IPL 2025 points table – they are now tied with 12 points out of 8 matches with Gujarat Titans, but DC has an inferior net run rate.

It was a serious match if there was someone ever. This was the first time KL Rahul played against LSG after one of the most headline splights in the history of IPL. Last year, Rahul scored 520 runs for LSG, but among the captain, he was publicly called by the team owner after a crushed defeat to Sunrisers Hyderabad.

Rahul led the LSG for 3 years, but after the IPL 2024 incidents, it was waiting for a break-up. In this summer, Rahul has batted the most aggressively since 2018 and is the best batsman for Delhi capitals in his new home in the IPL.

On Tuesday, when Rahul returned to his old IPL house ground, he played the situation and not on the occasion. He scored the winning runs in the 160s chase and remained unbeaten on 57 runs in 42 balls, but there was no over-the-top festival. It was all the class on: KL Rahul Grace a KL Rahul innings.

Rahul also became the fastest 5000 runs in IPL, breaking David Warner’s record. Warner reached a milestone in 135 innings, but Rahul reached there in 130 innings. Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers and Shikhar Dhawan made the fastest six for the 5000 -run mark in the IPL.

Chase got his pace for Abhishek Porl, who broke his first fifty and Exer Patel of the season, who followed a good bowling with an unbeaten 34 off 20 balls.

KL Rahul played an anchor for perfection and saw the team through his sixth win of the season without any drama.

However, LSG Inning had a lot of plays, which had lost steam after a strong inauguration stand by Eden Markram and Mitchell Marsh. He took a bizarre decision that sent Abdul Samad and Impact player Ayush Badoni ahead of Rishabh Pant. Nicolas Gorn failed and David Miller struggled as the LSG ended with a bottom-bore clan.

Pants tried to convince the argument behind their batting position at number 7 against DC, but admitted that the team did not get their best combination.

The LSG captain told the host broadcaster after the match, “We sent someone to capitalize on.
