To maintain retention rules, date, live streaming and potential players

The Delhi Premier League (DPL) is necessary to know all those details before the 2025 mega auction.

After a successful inaugural season of the Delhi Premier League (DPL) last year, the tournament is set to light up once again. But first, the franchises will have to revamp their teams since the Delhi & District Cricket Association (DDCA) announced the forthcoming DPL auction 2025. The Men’s auction on July 6 (Sunday) will be followed by the Women’s auction on July 7, scheduled in New Delhi.

DPL 2024 a huge success

Until 2024, while almost all the states had their own franchise-run T20 tournaments, Delhi didn’t. However, that changed when the DDCA brought up DPL T20 2024. The tournament instantly became a major success, with fans filling the Arun Jaitley Stadium to watch Delhi’s best white-ball talents play.

Rishabh Pant, captain of Purani Dilli 6, played the inaugural match, which only added to the star power. Not to forget, the DPL unleashed some insane T20 talents that starred on the biggest stage – the Indian Premier League (IPL) as well. IPL franchises banked on DPL stars, but the likes of Priyansh Arya, Digvesh Rathi, and Prince Yadav stood out like no other. Suyash Sharma, meanwhile, played a crucial part in Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s historic triumph.

The success of DPL echoed in monetary terms as well. In fact, it is reportedly now India’s second-richest T20 tournament after the IPL. The total franchise sale value is around Rs 70 crore after the addition of two new teams: Outer Delhi (₹10.6 crore) and New Delhi (₹9.2 crore).

Given that DPL will see two new franchises, the DDCA has put forward new retention policies, allowing franchises to retain just one player from their roster of 2024. Catch all the DPL 2025 auction rules below.
