Who should participate in England’s tests?

IPL 2025 Orange Cap Leader Sai Sudhasan is a team for the England series in India. But given his frequent performance and a vacuum in India’s Test side, the 24 -year -old is likely to get a Test debut in England.
Along with Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, with the vacancy of two positions from India’s Test playing XI, IPL’s MR is ready for a start in Sayin Reformson, IND Vs. Eng Test series. But the question of million-dollar is what is the situation? The young man from Tamil Nadu has scored 617 runs in IPL 2025 as a opener. He is the opener named for Tamil Nadu in domestic competitions. But will India play him as a opener in England instead of an experienced KL Rahul?
The decision can be difficult. Despite the ton of tons in white-ball cricket, reformson is still a crook in red-ball cricket. He does not have Mr. Mr. consistent in red-ball cricket like Sarfaraz Khan. However, he is talented, and the BCCI Selection Committee has already noted, handing him a T20 Eye and handing over ODI debut. But Test cricket is a separate animal, and England is even more difficult with the new Duke ball swinging for about 40 overs. Are Sai reforms ready for that gambling?
KL Rahul vs. Sai Reformson: Who should open?
If Rohit Sharma had not retired, he would have placed the initial place. Now, this is out of the question. Other options are Shubman Gill and KL Rahul. While Shubman, who is likely to take over as a new test captain, is preferred for a 3 slot, KL Rahul does not have a certain slot. That floater is the need of India, but it should not be an option.
On the final tour of England, Rahul scored a century as a opener at Lord’s. He has scored around 600 runs in England at an average of 37.31, including two centuries. Should India’s head coach, Gautam Gambhir ignore Sai Sudarshan as a opener?
KL Rahul in England
Batting position | Inn | Run | HS | average | 100 | 50 |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
overall | 18 | 614 | 149 | 34.11 | 2 | 1 |
As a opener | 16 | 597 | 149 | 37.31 | 2 | 1 |
But not | 2 | 17 | 13 | 8.50 | 0 | 0 |
On the other hand, Sai Reformson has scored a half -century at number 4 and a century at number 6 for Surrey in England. For India A, he batted at number 3. In Australia, he scored a century, batting at number 3. However, with a left -handed batsman with Yashasvi Jaiswal, Gambhir can choose for a right hand.
KL Rahul benefits from this. Even though Rahul went to Australia as a reserved middle-order batter, he was promoted to the initial slot with Rohit Sharma recalling the first Test. Rahul scored 77 runs in the second innings of the Perth Test and 84 runs in the Brisbane Test. With so many changes in their batting positions in the last two years, it is unlikely that the team management will once again tamper with the aspect. Rahul is a possible opener.
Not Sudhrasan 3 at 3?
There is speculation that Shubman Gill will be asked to take Virat Kohli’s number 4 place. Gill has not succeeded in 3 selected locations after snatching Cheteshwar Pujara from tests. Although Gill has average 37.74 at number 3, in distance tests, it has fallen until 19.27, with a highest score of 36. His only success has not come at 3 while playing at home.
However, with two stallwarts to redeem Indian cricket bid to test cricket, India needs an overhaul of batting positions. And, Shubman Gill can be demoted in No 4 for Sai Sudharsan.
However, alternative options cannot be dismissed either. If Sai Reformson is sent to open with Jaiswal, Gill will keep his No 3 slot playing the role of number 4 in Kohli’s absence with KL Rahul. Now, the ball is in Gautam Gambhir’s court.
