After trapping Pratika by Inoca Ranvira, captain Harmanpreet Kaur shared 42 and 44 with Harmanpreet Kaur with Harlen Deol (29) and Jemimah Rodrigues (37) respectively.
Richa then scored 58 runs off 48 balls, while shared a 52 -run stand with Deepti Sharma. But once Richa fell in the 44th over, India wanted to get a finishing kick, as Sri Lanka scored just 29 runs from the last five overs. In chasing, Sri Lanka never saw that they were out of control. Sneh Rana was once again a standout bowler for India with 3-45. But all -rounder Kashway Gautam, exiting the field after bowling, meant just five overs that Harmanpreet had to use Pratika as the sixth bowler. Although Hasini Perera and Vishmi Gunaratne fell before the half-way mark, Harshita ensured that the hosts were stable in their run-making through their fifty fifty.
But it was a knock of Nilakshi which made the game away from India. With some help from her big skills and some help from India’s wrong fielding unit, Nilaki and Kavisha scored 20 runs in the 37th over from Arundhati Reddy, and from there, Sri Lanka reached home with five balls. Sunday’s result means the competition is now widespread, as Sri Lanka is now equal to India through four digits and will now face a winner South Africa on Tuesday.
