The United States is being included by Mexico as the co-mage of the 2031 Women’s World Cup, several outlets have been confirmed.

ESPN said on Friday night that the Mexican Football Federation confirmed the system.

FIFA said earlier this year that the United States was the only “legitimate” bidding for the 2031 program, which would include 48 teams for the first time.

It can still be decided how many matches will be played in Mexico and whether additional countries will be involved in this effort.

Mexico and the US first submitted a joint bid for the 2027 program, but withdrew the attempt to move the gear by 2031. The 2027 Women’s World Cup will be played in Brazil.

The 2026 Men’s World Cup will be a joint effort between the US, Mexico and Canada.

11 of the 16 host cities are in the United States, with the final set for the MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.
