Understand your own yourself and unlock the maximum capacity you have done as a cricketer, is the mantra of former India captain and head coach Rahul Dravid for all who are willing to take the game professionally. Dravid, who worked with Rajasthan Royals in the IPL during the ongoing season after guiding India for the T20 World Cup Triumph, spoke to ‘Gehotstar’ during an episode of ‘Hall Bol’. “Just being good in cricket and just practicing cricket will definitely give you distance, but really good players, great players, who have got the privilege of working or sharing with the dressing room, one of those who is one of the common things, one of them is that they really know who they are,” said the second largest scorer in India in Test cricket.
“I think if you know who is as a person and grows as a person, then you give yourself the best chance to maximize your ability,” he said.
The gift of sports talent can take only a person who feels Dravid.
Dravid said in the video, “You have been given a talent to become the best cricketer, you also need to develop as a person and you need to understand yourself as a person both on the field and outside to maximize your ability.”
He made it clear that he does not believe in comparison.
“It’s personal, you cannot do justice yourself to other people, compare yourself with other people. Your job is to get the best by yourself and the gifts given by you and that will only come with growing as a cricketer on the field, but at the same time growing as a person,” said Dravid.
