Shohi Ohthani’s return to game action was taken as a pitcher another step on Sunday when he faced live hits for the first time after 2023 Tommy John Revision Surgery on his right elbow.

Ohtani’s pitching session, before the Sunday road game against New York Met’s, came against the team planning coach JT Watkins along with Durmaong Kim and Dalton Rushing, who stood as a third hitter.

According to reports out of New York, Ohtani had a strikeout and a pair of walking. Kim doubled and returned to the mound.

Ohtani has not picked up for Los Angeles Angels in a major league game since August 23, 2023, when he moved to just 1 1/3 innings against Cincinnati Reds. He also missed the 2019 season as a pitcher for Angels after undergoing his original Tommy John surgery.

86 Career Major League initially, Ohthani is 38–19 with 3.01 ERA. His hitting and pitching exploits helped him win the American League MVP Award in 2021 and 2023. He won the National League MVP for Dozers last season, when he scored 54 domestic runs with 54 Stunn Base.

Originally estimated to return to this month’s mound, the Dojers slowed down the rehabilitation schedule of Ohtani, in which Basball Operations Team President Andrew Freedman recently said, the target was Ohtani Pitching through October.

Ohtani pitching may occur again around the all-star brake in the recovery schedule.
