The USA Basketball announced on Thursday that Gimmer Fredate would lead the men’s 3×3 basketball team, which is responsible for identifying coaching staff and players.
Former number 1-rank 3×3 player in the world, Fredate announced his retirement from basketball on 23 April.
In BYU, Fredate was named in 2011 in NBA, Europe and China, a national player in 2011 before playing professionally in Europe and China. Sharpshooting Fredate made a late 3×3 change in his career.
“When I got a call from USA Basketball about playing 3×3, I didn’t really know what I expected to play,” said Fredate 36 -year -old Fredate. “I quickly discovered that I loved sports competition, energy and style. 3×3 fits my game and my personality. I made friends during my journey that would be a part of my life forever. I also saw the opportunity to develop the game within the USA.
“When USA Basketball contacted me about this role, I jumped on it. I am firm to help creating a permanent program for the coming years and eventually, the world’s best 3×3 program. I am very grateful to the USA Basketball Board of Directors to trust me with this responsibility and I am ready for a challenge.”
As a player, Fredate has a 2023 PAN American Games and 2022 FIBA 3×3 Men’s USA with a silver medal with a silver medal in the 2023 FIBA 3×3 men’s World Cup. He was a member of the first US 3×3 men’s Olympic team at the Paris Olympics in 2024, but an injury in the second game of the tournament dropped him out of the competition and failed to hold a US medal.
The 3×3 basketball will return to the Olympics in Los Angeles in 2028.

In addition, on Thursday, the USA Basketball named retired WNBA Great and five -time Olympic champion Suu Burd for the US Women’s Basketball Team.
