Lucknow Super Veteran (LSG) captain Rishabh Pant has proved to be a flop of Rs 27 crore in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season. With just a half -century for his name, Pant did not even live the ‘record’ price tag for which he was purchased. In the match against his former side Delhi Capital, Pant went out to bat number 7, and promoted the choice of Abdul Samad, Ayush Badoni and David Miller. As LSG lost the competition, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and India batsman Ambati Rayudu asked to make excuses and become responsible for his and his team’s performance.

Pant has so far scored an average of 106 runs at 13.25 and has a strike rate of 96.36. Against Delhi, he went out to bat in the final and had a duck with 2 balls. Although there are different principles behind his number 7 stunt, Rayudu feels that the pants need to be the main decision-maker in the team.

“Pants need to control the decisions being done in LSG. They need to come up. He cannot give any other excuse. He is a captain and it is a captain’s game. We all accept that, moving forward, LSG needs to make some changes: Maybe even Mayank Yadav, which is about playing completely.

The pants also had an animated chat on the bench with the team’s patron Zaheer Khan, both of them were coming out to bat and then dismissed. Rayudu feels that such visuals are not good for the team. If there is disagreement between two members of a team, it needs to be decided behind the closed doors.

“I think the pants need to really need to take on themselves. It really needs to make decisions on its own. Sometimes these scenes are not really good if you are a good team. Because you want everything to be closed doors. You want everything to be inside the house.
