Los Angeles Rams Safety Quentin Lake (37) faced Minnesota Vikings Receive Justin Jefferson (18) during his playoff game at the State Farm Stadium on January 13, 2025 in Glandel.

Detroit Lions on Wednesday withdrew their proposal to replace the playoff seeding before the owners at Minoriapolis taking one vote.

The proposal called the playoff fields to seed on records, thus ending the automatic home game for division winners regardless of the regular-season records.

The NFL owners were scheduled to vote on the proposal on Wednesday. Instead, the team pulled the pitch from the table due to lack of support, the NFL Network said, the idea can be again assumed that the league should expand to the 18-game schedule.

Under the current format, a home playoff game is guaranteed to four division winners in each conference. Wild-card entreent division travel to play champions, which can produce a matchup between a domestic team with a worse record than the wild-card team.

In the previous season, for example, 14–3 Vikings were forced to travel west to complete 10–7 Ramas in the Wild-Card round. Minnesota NFC ended behind Detroit Lions (15–2) in NFC North, making the Vikings a wild card. Los Angeles won the NFC West. Ram became strong to move forward.

After the 2023 season, in Postsen, Eagles (11-6) finished second in NFC and went on the road to play Tampa Baukeners (9-8) in the early stages as a wild card.

Lions proposed only the Division winner with the best record at each conference, who will play at home. The remaining playoff teams will not have any connection for the division with records.
