India (BCCI) selection committee has a big question before the Control Board for cricket to get out of Rohit Sharma as Test Captain of India. Ajit Agkar-led panel is to select a new captain and a vice-captain for the national team in the test format, especially Rohit’s deputy Jasprit Bumrah allegedly dropped himself out of the captaincy race. Bumrah looked like a natural candidate to succeed Rohit, but his injury records made a board to consider other candidates.

According to several reports, Shubman Gill Rohit’s test is the number 1 option to lead the team after retirement. However, the great Sunil Gavaskar wants Bumrah to be given a baton.

“Who is better to know what is the charge for yourself for yourself? If you appoint someone else, they always want an additional over from Bumrah. If he is your number 1 bowler, he himself would know that ‘Yes, this is the time when I should take a break. I only show for him. When to rest. When to rest.

Bumrah also led the Indian team to the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 against Australia. However, he injured himself in a 5 -match series. The boundary of injury was such that Bumraha could not facilitate India even in the Champions Trophy this year. BCCI, therefore, is cautious about the charge of Bumrah. However, Gavaskar disagrees due to the board’s stance and being on the side of Gill.

“He (Bumrah) may not have to remember a Test match. If you give him, he might know when his body has to stop before stopping. For me, give it to him. After the first Test, there is a difference of eight-day. There is a difference of eight-day. There is enough time to recover. Then he knows that he is another gap.
