Yograj Singh feels that Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma had another 5 years and there were 5 years.

Former Indian cricketer Yogaj Singh believes that both Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli could easily test for 5 years.

Former Indian cricketer Yograj Singh has claimed that Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli still had a lot left in them and shouldn’t have retired from Tests. The veteran duo took everyone by surprise by announcing their decision to call it a day in the longest format of the game just before the England series. As a result of their departure, India cricket team has now entered a new era and will be led by a new captain – Shubman Gill.

Yograj thinks Ro-Ko could have played for 5 more years

In an exclusive interview with Insidesport, Yograj claimed that both Rohit and Virat could have easily played Tests for another 5 years. He further reckoned that Sharma shouldn’t have retired, recalling that he had told the former Indian captain to get up at 5 AM and run for 20 km to keep himself fit.

Virat and Rohit can still play for another 5 years in Test cricket. They should have played. They should be there to see that the baton is passed to the youngsters. The baton has not been passed, it has been thrown to Gill,” Yograj said.

Both Rohit and Virat had a miserable outing in their last Test series against Australia in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. While reports had claimed that Rohit’s request to feature in just two Tests in England was turned down by selectors leading to his retirement, Virat had reportedly dialed up Ajit Agarkar in April to inform the selectors abut his decision to step away from red-ball cricket.

Further, Yograj said that leaving the field was not an option and that a fight was a mut. He recalled that when his son Yuvraj Singh was retiring, he had told him that he would help him become captain. However, the southpaw gave up, his father revealed.

“Even when Yuvraj was retiring I promised him that I will help him become India captain and that we will throw everybody out but he quit,” Yograj added.
