Messe Barber: ‘I forgive’ for UFC after seizure, late dropout

In an Instagram post on Sunday, Messe Barber commented on the cancellation of the last minute of his UFC Fight Night Main event against Erin Blanchfield due to a medical event.
Barber in his post did not confirm that he faced a seizure, but in a video he was shown to get out of the arena on a stretcher. One of the photos he posted displayed him with a medical sensor attached to his body.
“No, which I planned for Sunday’s post,” Barber wrote. “Thanks to all for prayers and support and I am an apology @Fc @Mickmaynard2 @danawhite @Seanshelby & @Blanchfield_Mma.”
In an interview with ESPN, Blancfield stated that she was waiting for her walkout music on the UFC Vegas 107 on Saturday night when UFC Chief Business Officer Hunter Campbell told her backstage that the barber was disqualified to fight medically.
“Nobody said anything until Hunter came in and told me that she was making a seizure and she would not be able to compete,” Blancfield said.
Blancfield exploded the barber, which missed a weight of half a pound in the previous day.
“He needs to look at another division,” Blancfield said. “He needs to fix his life. He just needs to fix himself. I think he is completely messed up in every aspect of his entire life.”
In his social media posts, Barber accepted Blancfield’s excavation.
“PS My life is not messed up. It’s just a bad hand,” the barber wrote. “We will reach the bottom of all this and will come back.”
Barber was trying to compete in a UFC battle for the first time since March 2024, in part due to other health intimidation. He was admitted to the hospital for nine days in 2024 due to a combination of pneumonia, strap throat and a staff infection.
Barber vs. Blancfield was billed as a fight between the top-five flyweight contenders. Blancfield told ESPN that she would not consider accepting another fight with the barber.
