Pittsburgh Pirates returned home on Friday night to face Atlanta Braves with a new manager, but a familiar face is in charge.

Pittsburgh on Thursday fired manager Derek Shelton during his off day in view of the start of season-hai seven-game losing and 12-26. Pirates promoted bench coach Don Kelly as manager.

Shelton lived with the pirates for six sessions and compiled a record of 306–440, with no winning session.

Kelly, who is expected to manage the remaining season, per general manager Ben Cherrington served as Shelton’s bench coach during his entire tenure in Pittsburgh.

Pirates President Bob Newting said on Thursday, “Derek is a good man who did a lot for Pirates and Pittsburgh, but it was a change time.”

Productioning run has been the biggest issue as The Pirates has entered with 118 runs on Friday – only the highest companies ahead of Colorado Rockies (115). Pittsburgh has been closed seven times and has scored only one run in its last 23 innings. Pirates have scored only 26 domestic runs, the final rank in the National League.

Pittsburgh rotation has been generally solid, but is often forced to be correct due to lack of run support. The Pirates did not announce Friday’s starter till Thursday night, but if their rotation remains in order, the left-handed belly Falter (1-3, 5.06 ERA) will get Brews Right-Hand Bryas Alder (2–1, 5.06) contrary to the onset.

Falter’s most recent beginning was an example of that often disappointing tendency. He allowed one run on two hits and two walks and hit six in seven innings, but Pittsburgh lost 2–1 to San Diego Padress on Saturday. Five careers have 5.47 ERAs with Falter 2–1, which begins against Atlanta.

Unlike pirates, Braves are capable of turning things after their own poor start in recent weeks. After losing 13 out of the first 18 matches, Atlanta has won 13 out of 19-which includes a 5–4 victory in 11 innings on Cincinnati Reds on Thursday.

However, the crime of Braves does not grow as much as expected, pressurizing the pitching staff.

The introduction of Atlanta, however, has been able to proceed late. A day after AJ Smith-Shever took a no-hitter in the eighth innings, Chris Sale on Tuesday exceeded the 6 2/3 scorer innings. Grant Holmes was touched for four runs in 5 1/3 innings on Wednesday, but Spencer Movelback gave six innings of a run ball of one run on Thursday.

“It can be very large,” said Brevs Manager Brian Snightkar. “I know because when you start pitching, such as we have free agency and injury and all the last few years, it is just so difficult to change it. And people can be very big for us to take steps like this.”

Elder conceded four hits to six and two runs against Los Angeles Dozers on Sunday. Braves have won their last four starts.

The Elder 1-1 with 5.25 ERA in two careers against the pirates. He conceded five runs in five innings and lost his start in Pittsburgh.
