St. Louis Cardinals return home on Friday to face New York Mets after settling to Partition in a brief Char-Game Road trip to Cincinatti.
The right-handed Sunny Gray (3–0, 3.60 ERA) will get a beginning for cardinals, who have won four of their last seven matches. He is expected to withstand Wright Clay Homes (3–1, 2.64).
Now, St. Louis must be ready to face the leaders of the National League East. At 21–11, Mates has the second best record among the Majors, los Angeles Dojers.
New York comes in the midwest, which loses the last two competitions of the three-game home series against Arizona Diamondback, capping with a 4–2 defeat on Thursday. He performed Met’s vs. pitch in Queens on 20 April, scoring three runs in six innings, while no decision was received in the 7-4 defeat. He hit six hits and a walk and six.
In his last beginning, last Saturday at home against Milvauki Broovers, Gray made seven hits and three walks – both high levels of the season – in six innings and just four strikeouts. However, he allowed only three runs as Cardinals won 6–5.
Holmes has won three out of three of their last four. In his last three appearances, he allowed only two earned runs, eight hits and four walks in 16 innings, while out of 16.
He did not get any decision against the cardinals in the April 20 game, which he limited to two runs with just one run and six strikes in six innings. This was Holmes’ only career against cardinals. For his career, he is 0–2 with 6.16 ERA in 12 appearances (a beginning) against St. Louis.
Gray starts in five with 2.76 ERA with 4–0.
