Miguel Angel Jimnez Principal Charity Classic prevails in playoffs

Spain’s Miguel Angel Jimnez bound the final hole of regulation to force a playoff with Soren Kejeldsen of Denmark and Australia’s Cameron Percy, then gave the same hole to the playoffs to win the Principal Charity Classic on Sunday at the Wonder Club in Des Moines, Iowa.
“It was difficult,” Jimnez said. “People (were) were playing very well, as you can see.”
Jimnez, who shot a 2-end-foot 70 on Sunday, started the final round with a two-shot lead on Percy. Kjeldsen had seven shots back, but 50-year-olds, who launched their second Champions Tour, fired a bogie-free 63 to take an lead in the club house in 17-under 199.
Kjeldsen had an edge of a shot when Jimnez and Percy reached the 18th Hole, an attractive Par-4. Gymnas and Percy rolled their tea shots in front of green, then for two-puts and three-way playoffs for the Birdi.
The three players returned to the 18th T, but only Jimnez produced a solid tea shot. While 61-year-old Jimnez reduced the green to the right side-a good angle for the green-Cejeldsen cut his drive from the cart of the cart for the number 1T box and the 51-year-old Percy dropped his drive under a scoreboard on the left.
Keseldsen and Percy scrambled to earn a passenger, but Jimnez peacefully pasted within 3 feet and had a straight Burdee to claim his third title and 16th title since joining the Champions Tour in 2014.
Jimnez’s $ 300,000 payday increased its 2025 earnings to $ 1,813,297, which increased Angel Cabrera in second place to $ 375,000. He celebrated a cigar with his bag with the 18th green color.
“The taste of the cigar is amazing,” Jimanez said.
At least one runner-up, meanwhile, did not run with a bad taste in his mouth.
“I played brilliantly today, so no regrets,” Kejeldsen said. “Miguel is a great champion.”
