The Hall of Fame Quarterback Peeton Manning returned to the Denver Sports scene on Tuesday by joining the ownership group of the 2026 NWSL expansion franchise in the city.

Five-time NFL MVP directed Broncos at the Super Bowl 50 Championships and thrown out for 17,112 yards and 140 tachdowns in four sessions in Mile High City from 2012-15.

“The city has a new sheriff,” the team posted on social media with a video of Maning and his brother, Ellie.

“This is a real honor to be a part of something so meaningful for the Colorado community,” said Maning said. “I am proud to support the development of women’s sports and are excited to help create a club that can rally behind our city and our state.”

The Denver NWSL Ownership Group is headed to control the owner Rob Cohen and includes American skiing star Mikela Shifreen.

“As a champion and a leader, the legacy of Peethan is no longer behind anyone,” Cohen said. “Their influence on Colorado Games is unmatched, and we are feeling incredibly proud when they are as a partner. He brings passion, insight and deep local roots – which will all help us shape the future of Denver NWSL.”

Maning, 49, was included in the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2021. The 14-time Pro Bowl selection also won a super bowl with colts and ranked the third all-time in the passing yard (71,940) and the TDS (539), with the IndianPolis (1998–2010) and Danver in 266 sports.
