“Is this also a viable option?” East-Indian Star Question Rajasthan Royals’s batting line-up

Former Indian cricketer Akash Chopra questioned the viability of Rajasthan Royals’s batting lineup in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL). “I am thinking that once he decided to go with an all -India batting lineup, Samson was the most experienced and oldest, with Shimron Hetmire reduces order – the only foreign batting option – is this also a viable option?” Akash Chopra said, as quoted by Espncricinfo. Chopra also highlighted the importance of the superiors in the team, citing Jose Butler, who played the role of senior batsman for RR till last year. Rajasthan released him before IPL 2025.

“We say this is a young person’s game, okay, but if you put them all together – they are all talented, they are all skilled – but there is not a senior stateman in favor, something that Jose Butler used to do till last year, is also a viable option, even in the Indian T20 team, whatever is, he needs to be handled.

Chopra reflected on the unexpected nature of the performance of RR, in which the adverse results with young players such as Vaibhav Suryavanshi were clarified and the absence of a senior player to provide stability.

“This type of performance almost indicates what the youth can give you in a day when everything goes wrong. Certainly, what will the Vaibhav Suryavanshi give you, it is also that the youth can give you one day. Still, there may be two very opposite ends of the performance with this team, and you don’t have to keep a senior person together,” he said.

RR captain Sanju Samson has not been part of the Rajasthan team since his injury, batting in a clash against Delhi Capital on Wednesday, April 16. When he is out, the Ryan Parag is leading the team. Sanju is the most experienced batsman in RR batting lineup.

RR had a season to forget this as he was out of the last four races in Jaipur on Thursday with a loss of 100 runs to Mumbai Indians (MI).

Prior to the season, his move was equally questioned by fans and critics by fans and critics to maintain Butler and move forward with an Indian core of Yashsavi Jiswal, Ryan Parag, Captain Sanju Samson, and Dhruv Jurlel, and as the absence of butt as a butt. RR’s campaign was adversely affected.
