Nashville home to cook, taste Vijay vs DC United

Nashville SC Midfielder Andy Nazar (31) passed the ball against New York Red Bulls during the first half at Geodis Park in Nashville, Tenne on Wednesday, 14 May, 2025.

On Wednesday, Nashville is entering his match against a visit to Nashville SC DC United, including his first win over New York Red Bulls, with five direct all-competition win at home.

The recent success, which has been inspired by 2022 MLS MVP Hani Mukhtar, has taken Nashville (7-4-2, 23 points) to fourth place in the Eastern Conference.

DC United (3-6-4, 13 points) arrived after failing to score in his last two matches and would not have the top threat to Christian Bentke (six goals), who retained ankle injury in a scorer draw with FC of New York City on Wednesday.

It combines a more challenging date for DC United as they face a Nashville team that accumulates more points at home than any side in MLS.

“We want to have a really difficult place to play Geodis Park,” said Nashville coach BJ Kailaghan. “And now, this is.”

With six domestic win, Nashville has already crossed its clan before last year (five), when it failed to create an MLS playoffs for the first time after entering the league in 2020.

Mukhtar has recently been a catalyst, scoring four goals in his last three domestic matches, including Dickider in the 63rd minute, which gave Nashville his first win over the red bulls in eight meetings.

Mukhtar (six goals, four aids) and Sam Sarij (six goals, three aids) fuel the attack of Nashville.

During its drought, DC has difficulty in creating opportunities as it has put only seven shots on the target.

DC United Coach Troy Lesne said after the scoreless match on Wednesday, “We did a good job of breaking the first line, but really didn’t make the ball progress a lot.”

The bright place against New York City FC was Keeper Luis Baraza (Six Saves). He has started in six matches, Baraja has scored just eight goals.

Kailaghan said, “DC introduced unique issues for us, the way they play is a really good pressure team.” “They are hungry for a win.”
