Why Shubman Gill Test is an ideal option for captain and not Jaspreet Bumrah

Gautam Gambhir and the selectors will name a new captain when they take the name of the India squad for the England series. Rohit Sharma has announced his retirement, and Shubman is a favorite for nominating Gill as the new captain. Jasprit Bumrah, the Hollen Vice-Private, is also an option, but the report suggests that Gill is at the forefront of the India vs England series.
Gavaskar, Srikanth back to become captain for Bumrah India vs England test
Jasprit Bumrah was the deputy of Rohit and led him to his only win in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in December-January. India’s Spearhead has inspired itself to the nation with its performance and leadership on the field. However, issues of Bumrah’s injury posed a threat to missing sports at a significant turn. BCCI is closely monitoring its charge, which means that it is unlikely to receive the armband.
However, former India captain Sunil Gavaskar has put his weight behind Bumrah. Gavaskar believes that the captain, Bumrah, can better manage his charge.
“For me, it should only be a bumrah. I know that there are speculation about his fitness and workload, but right that is why he should be in charge. If you appoint someone else, they always want an additional over from Bumrah. If he is your number 1 ball, Gavaskar told sports today.
The talk of the former Indian captain, though is valid, comes with a warning. Despite the Captain four 3 of the 5 tests in Australia, Bumrah was forced into the 5th test in Sydney. Remembering India’s winning Champions Trophy campaign, 31 -year -old had to undergo surgery. Given India’s inexperienced motion attack, managing Bumrah’s charge is not a simple task.
Even Gavaskar’s early partner, Krishnamkhari Srikanth supported Jasprit Bumrah for the leadership. Srikanth believes that Bumrah is an ideal option, in which KL Rahul is a good option for the role of deputy.
“The captaincy should be given to Jaspreet Bumrah, and if he is not fit or available for any match, KL Rahul or Rishabh Pant should lead India,” The former opener told the Times of India.
Why does Gill Trump Bumrah as a better option?
Shubman Gill may not have the support of two legends of the game, but the 25 -year -old is still the leading candidate as far as the selectors are concerned. Bumrah is 31 years old and, looking at his history with injuries, wants to look at a younger generation of BCCI leaders.
On the other hand, Gill has recently established himself back in the Indian set-up. Now, with retiring with Virat, Gill is best placed to take that mental. In his younger captain career, Gill has shown a good mix of authority, aggression and peace. Despite the presence of international captains Jose Butler and Rashid Khan, it is Gill that has taken the Gujarat Titans to the top of the standing. His bowling consists of Mohammad Siraj and Prasad Krishna, both of which are likely to be in India’s squad vs England.
India converted Rohit Sharma into a stopgap remedy, when Virat retired, and the hit-man led 24 tests and missed something due to injury. BCCI no longer wants to take a similar approach and appointing Gill will set a long way to fulfill that purpose. India appointed Virat Kohli as Dhoni’s successor in 2013, when Kohli was 24 years old. Gill is in an uniform age group, and like Kohli, has a shadow in the role of Rohit Sharma as a vice-captain. Kohli then led India’s revival in the tests and retired as India’s largest Test captain.
This is a difficult to choose the captain of any team, give it to a team like India alone. Jasprit Bumrah will be a favorite of fans and has proved that the leadership suits him. But the selectors have more responsibility and have to think from a long -term perspective. Gill, thus, creates a clear option.
