Lucknow super veteran spinner Digvesh Rathi has been assigned a one-match suspension by the Indian Premier League (IPL) Governing Council for repeated violations of the league’s code of conduct. Rathi was already punished twice by the IPL for his extraordinary ceremony after taking wickets in LSG matches. Against Sunrisers Hyderabad, on Monday, Rathi was also involved in a warm change with batsman Abhishek Sharma, which inspired the umpires and other players to intervene.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) found Digwesh guilty for violating the IPL code of conduct for the third time this season. Therefore, the spinner was fined 50 percent match fee and was also suspended from the next game of LSG against Gujarat Titans.
An IPL release on the matter was read, “This was his third level 1 offense under Article 2.5 this season and hence, he has submitted two demerit points, besides he had first deposited in addition to three demerit points – a demerit point against Punjab Kings on April 01, 2025 against Punjab Kings and on April 04, 2025.”
