After a smashing debut for the 2025 season, this is the time to encounter a Phoenix mercury.
They will work on Wednesday night when they host Los Angeles Sparks.
Phoenix visited Seattle 81-59 on Sunday in his season’s opener, scoring a combined 47 points from their biggest offsen acquisition-SEbo Sabli and Elisa Thomas. Saballi set a game-hai 27, a franchise record in a player’s first game, while Thomas stuffed his general state-sheet with 20 points, seven rebounds and six assistance.
But the second year coach Nat Tibbets were the most affected what his team did to the ball then. Mercury allowed Seattle to only 33.3 percent from the ground and earned a profit of 38-29 on boards.
“I felt that our defense was fantastic,” said Tibbets. “Our on-ball defense, our pick-and-rol coverage, our cruelty, our patience … you cannot be a good defense without finishing the property. So we did so and it is important.”
The even more encouraging for Phoenix was that it did the things that are its main scorer last year without Kahlih copper (knee), which is out four to six weeks after undergoing arthoscopic surgery.
Meanwhile, Los Angeles (1-1) had no good for his season’s opener, as the author expected mercury. After spoiling the Golden State’s first game with a decision of 84-67 on Friday night, Sparks dropped his home opener on Minnesota 89–75 on Sunday night.
First year coach Lynn Roberts said that Los Angeles just have to be difficult. It implicated the links in a halftime in only 46-45, but scored 8–0 to separate Minnesota.
“We looked visually frustrated, and not only that not to help you as a player, but the other (team) believed me, he saw, too,” he said. “They see some cracks, they are going to step on your throat.”
Offsen Acquisition Calci Plum is average of 27.5 points per game, while Deerka Hamby is contributing to 17 points and 10 rebounds per outing.
Phoenix won all the four meetings of the teams by an average of 10.8 points per game last year.
