Watson slam LSG’s strange batting to play pants at 7

Shane Watson was confused during the comment as Pant came out at number 7 and was dismissed for a Golden Duck.

Rishabh Pant, captain of Lucknow Super Veterans, addressed his decision to bat at number 7 after the loss of his eight wickets in Delhi’s capitals at Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekna Cricket Stadium in IPL 2025.

Batting order surprise

In the match, Abdul Samad, David Miller and Ayush Badoni all batted before the pants. Fans estimated a potential injury when they saw the pants tied to the hand, but he was rejected for only one duck after facing only two balls. Shane Watson expressed his surprise during the comment and said, said, “I am gobsmacked, nervous, and what not. Whatever the word you want to use. I can’t understand why Rishabh Pant is not batting here.”

Pant explanation

After the match, Pant explained his decision, said, “The idea was liked to capital, we sent someone to capture a wicket like this.

Strategy with Mayank Yadav

Even though Lucknow has listed Pesar Mayank Yadav for two matches, he has not played yet. Pants reported that the decision to use Ayush Badoni was partially to give some time to adjust Meyank, as he recently joined the team after clearance from the National Cricket Academy. Pant said, “Surely, this is an idea why we are impressing Ayush to get some game time, just trying to find ways to get it quickly in the season because it is already in half the way, and he has now come from NCA, so just trying to fit it.”

Reflection on the result of the match

Delhi Capital won the toss, opted for bowling, and then successfully followed the target of 160 set by LSG in the 18th over. Pant admitted that the team was reduced by about 20 runs, highlighting the impact of the toss. They said, “We knew that we were 20 runs. The toss played a very big role because whoever is bowling before, helps a lot from the wicket … It is always in Lucknow, in the second innings, the wickets are better and better to bat.” Despite the shock, the pants talked about the attention of the TTE team on learning from experience instead of making excuses.
