BCCI Asia Cup breaks silence on the return report from 2025

BCCI Secretary Devjit Saikia said that no case related to participation in the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) events has come up for discussion at any level, saying that any news or report is purely speculative and imaginary in nature. On Monday, various reports about BCCI came to light, which are being held in June and September in the Emerging Asia Cup and men’s Asia Cup in Sri Lanka, describing the constant tension between India and Pakistan.
It should be noted that the ACC is currently under the leadership of Mohsin Naqvi, President of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), who is also the internal minister in the central government of the country.
“Since this morning, it has come to our notice about some news items about the BCCI’s decision, which is about the decision not to participate in the Asia Cup and the emerging teams of women.
“The issue of Asia Cup Matter or any other ACC event has not come to discuss any level, so any news or report on it is purely speculative and imaginary. It can be said that BCCI, as and when any ACC events are discussed and any important decision will be reached, then it will be announced through media,” Saikas said in a statement.
India has hosting rights for men’s Asia Cup, which is going to be in T20 format in September this year. India and Pakistan, Bangladesh, UAE Afghanistan, Sri Lanka, Hong Kong and Oman are considered part of the tournament.
India is the defending champion of the Asia Cup after Sri Lanka beaten Sri Lanka in the 2023 final held in the 50 -over format in Colombo. The incident was also affected by India-Pakistan stress. Originally designed to be completely hosted by Pakistan, the 2023 Men’s Asia Cup was held in a hybrid model, when India refused to travel there and all its matches were transferred to Sri Lanka.
This hybrid model was again repeated for the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy – the tournament was to be played completely in Pakistan. But insisting for a hybrid model India meant that all its sports were played in Dubai. While Pakistan crashed on the stage of the league, India finally won the trophy in Dubai on 9 March.
Following the report of India’s return from ACC incidents, many political leaders like Opposition Leader of Opposition in Rajasthan State Assembly Tika Ram Julli, BJP national spokesperson Syed Shahnawaz Hussain and JD (U) leader KC Tyggy reacted to BCCI.
