Glad that Shreyas Iyer and Ishaan Kishan have returned their central contracts: Ravi Shastri

Former India cricketer and head coach Ravi Shastri said that he has recently been restoring Shreyas Iyer and Ishaan Kishan in the central contract list of men. Both Iyer and Kishan were left in the previous edition of the annual retainers due to not playing domestic games, but recently brought back to the list for the 2024/25 season. “I thought Shreyas Iyer and Ishaan Kishan looking back into the mixture, because what was transparen between the team management, BCCI and the individuals involved. I am happy that there was communication, things have been resolved and they get their contracts back.
“Shreyas Iyer especially, the way he has played for India in the last 18 months and has become like a complete certainty in the white ball format of the game, especially the one -day format, and the way he played in the Champions Trophy, demands recognition.
In the latest episode of the ICC Review Show, Shastri said, “He really dropped the door down, but he was reprimanded. They were rapped on the knuckles that many times needed, but I am glad that I resolve everyone well.”
The 30-year-old, Iyer, was the second major run-scorer in India’s victory in Dubai in the 2025 Champions Trophy, scoring 243 runs at an average of 48.6 and a solid rock of the side in number four positions. Shastri changed the changes made in his technology, which gave him great success in 50 overs cricket.
“He was very side, back and back, very leg-side. The fact that he is now ready to go back and with a very honest stance and pick up. When he is going back, the bat is being raised when he is going back and crossing.”
“He allows her to play both sides of the wicket. If they briefly explode it, he can pull and hook. And if there is any room outside the stump, he can also cut. So that he opens the game for him instead of being very foot, where the rib case was being targeted and no one was escaping.”
“Now he has found a place to go in both ways and he has such a good timer of the ball. He has got a good hand and when he gets into the position quickly he can be disastrous because he is now showing when he is batting when he is batting,” he expanded.
Iyer is currently leading Punjab Kings in IPL 2025, where he has scored 263 runs in eight matches at an average of 43.83. India’s next major assignment is England’s five -match Test tour, which starts from June 20. Iyer has not portrayed the test level since playing the second Test against England in Visakhapatnam in February 2024, but Shastri believes that there is an external chance to remember the right -handed batsman.
“Shreyas Iyer especially, the way he has been played for India in the last 18 months and has become a complete certainty in the white-ball format of the game, especially one-day format. He (can earn a recall for Test cricket) but it is going to be a competition again. White-ball, fixed (selection). Test cricket, (we).
