Gautam Gambhir should be given 12-18 months: Monty Panesar coachs India coach despite a bad test record

Gambhir became the head coach of India in July 2024, taking over from Gambhir Dravid.
Gautam Gambhir has started a stumbling in Test cricket as India’s head coach. On 24 June, he was given his 7th defeat in the longest format. After being taken exactly a year ago, Gambhir has excelled in white-ball cricket. He has lost only 2 out of 15 matches in T20Is. His debut in Odis was not so great, but he has won the Champions Trophy.
However, Gambhir has so far received a smelly test resume. Under them, India was first turned white at home testing at home and failed to maintain the Border-Gavaskar Trophy after a decade. Test cricket has been climbed more than high during its 12 -month term.
Pitchfors are out for him. But not everyone thinks that Gambhir should be judged yet. Recently, Monty Panesar specifically spoke to Insidesport, where he shared his opinion on Gautam Gambhir as India’s head coach.
Gambhir must be given time to develop a test team
Everyone knows that India’s test team is in infection. Therefore, the former left -handed spinner feels that he should be given a leve. He is leading a young side in England. More than half the squad has not played a test in England. Some have also not made their debut.
“He is in a unique position. He is actually starting with a new team. You are creating a new side in situations that are not in favor of this Indian team. They are going to England on pitches that will not spin, but on swing and seam position. It is more likely that India will lose the series due to circumstances and a young team. but you never know; They can win or have close matches, ” Panesar told the Insidesport.
The British feel that Gambhir should be given about one and a half years ago in view of his performance. Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and Ravichandran Ashwin have retired from Test cricket in the last 6 months. Therefore, you cannot expect that serious, especially can expect to perform well with a new captain in England.
“I believe that Gautam Gambhir should be given at least 12-18 months to develop and nourish this youth testing team. And then review how he is done as a coach. If they played on this tour, they are very much about winning India’s test series because they had experience in the team. But they do not have experience at this time.”
When should we start questioning his performance as the head coach of India? “In 12 months time, where will this Indian team be, and is Gautam Gambhir done a good job?” Pensor says.
